The SANTEST L2DT is a non-contact, absolute linear displacement transducer using inductive sensing with a copper sleeve, designed for high-temperature environments up to 150°C. It consists of a sensor probe with a nickel-plated brass head and SS304 rod, a heat-resistant shielded cable up to 20 m, and a controller. The sensor outputs 0-10 V or 4-20 mA analog signals with two open-collector contact outputs capable of 0.1 A at 30 VDC, and features IP67 protection and a maximum operating pressure of 21 MPa. The probe operates on a 10 kHz excitation frequency with a frequency response of 100 Hz, non-linearity of ±0.5% FS typical, and resolution under ±0.1% FS. The sensor is mounted in a cylinder with an overall length equal to the effective stroke plus 100 mm, available in strokes from 100 to 500 mm.
SANTEST's Linear Inductance-L Transducer L2DT is a sensor of which inductance changes with displacement of the copper sleeve covering a sensor probe. 10kHz sine wave excites the solenoid coil of the L2DT sensor. It generates the short ring effect as a copper sleeve covers a sensor probe. The magnetic flux of the short ring effect makes decrease inductance of solenoid coil. When the copper sleeve covers the whole sensor probe, the short ring effect is the strongest and the value of inductance becomes the smallest. Calculating the change of this inductance, it is possible to detect the position of a copper sleeve.
