The piezo actuator stack is encased in non-magnetic stainless steel housing with the top and bottom epoxied to eliminate mechanical play. Piezo actuators having diameters greater than 12 mm can be equipped with a strain gauge measurement system. Adding strain gauges increases the length and diameter by 2 mm. The accuracy is in the nanometer range. The P series provides a response time in the millisecond range with sub-nm resolution. Typical applications includes precise positioning of small components like mirrors or optics. Piezo actuators without pre-load are not suitable for dynamic applications. For use in dynamic applications please choose series PA.
