The PCE-P15 is a handheld differential pressure meter designed to measure gauge and true differential pressure in pneumatic, hydraulic, HVAC, and industrial systems. It features two pressure ports for differential measurements, a 0 to 15 psi range with ±0.3% full scale accuracy at 25°C, and 11 selectable pressure units including psi, kPa, inH2O, and mbar. The device has a resolution of 0.01 psi, a 0.5 second response time, and functions for min/max storage and data hold. It is powered by a single 9V battery, includes a backlit LCD screen, and features an ABS plastic housing measuring 72 x 182 x 30 mm, weighing approximately 220 g with battery. An RS-232 interface is available for PC connectivity, though cable and software are not included. Auto power-off is supported and can be disabled.
Gauge pressure is measured relative to the ambient atmospheric pressure. Thus, changes in the atmospheric pressure due to weather conditions or altitude directly influence the output of a gauge pressure sensor. A gauge pressure higher than the ambient pressure is referred to as positive pressure. If the measured pressure is below the atmospheric pressure, it is called negative or vacuum gauge pressure.
Although most gauge pressure sensors technically are differential pressure sensors — measuring the difference between the media and atmospheric pressure — true differential pressure sensors are used to identify the difference between two separate physical areas. PCE-P15 features two pressure ports and a differential pressure function for measuring true differential pressure.
