The S.I.Tech 2160 Bit-Driver extends Ethernet links up to 80 km over fiber optic cable, operating transparently in pairs. It supports IEEE 802.3 10/100/1000Base-T with automatic speed detection, full duplex, and auto MDI/MDI-X. The device features an RJ-45 shielded Ethernet interface and standard LC fiber connectors, with selectable optical wavelengths of 850 nm (multimode) or 1310 nm and 1550 nm (single mode). It operates from 5 to 60 VDC with a maximum power draw of 10 W and includes LED indicators for link status and activity. The metal enclosure measures 5.75 in L × 3.8 in W × 1.0 in H, weighs 0.8 lb, and operates from 0 to 70 °C. It is UL, CSA, CE, and TUV GS listed and meets FCC Class A, Part 15 standards.
The S.I.Tech 2160 Bit-Driver is intended to extend the length of Ethernet links to up to 80Km for long haul backbone applications. Once installed the 2160's are completely transparent to the system. Units must be installed in pairs. Network timing limitations and fiber attenuation and bandwidth may limit maximum transmission distance to less than maximum. Note: The PC, Switch, or Hub to which S.I. Tech 2160 is attached must support “Auto Negotiation, i.e. Auto 1000, Auto 100 or Auto 10 Mbps.”
