The Qorvo DW3220 is a fully integrated Ultra-Wideband (UWB) transceiver IC designed for low-power applications, compliant with IEEE802.15.4-2015 and IEEE802.15.4z standards. It operates in the 6.5 to 8.0 GHz frequency range and supports two antenna ports. The device is capable of achieving data rates of 850 kbps and 6.8 Mbps, with packet lengths of up to 1023 bytes.
The DW3220 supports advanced location techniques including Two-Way Ranging, Time Difference of Arrival (TDoA), and Phase Difference of Arrival (PDoA), providing positioning accuracy within 10 cm. It features enhanced security modes with integrated hardware AES 256 encryption, making it suitable for secure applications. The transceiver is designed for a variety of markets, including healthcare, consumer, and industrial sectors, and is optimized for battery-operated devices.
With a low external component count and options for QFN and WLCSP packaging, the DW3220 is suitable for compact designs. Its interoperability with the Apple U1 & U2 chips and compliance with FiRa™ standards further enhance its applicability in modern wireless systems.
Qorvo's DW3220 is part of the DW3000 family of second-generation, fully integrated Impulse Radio Ultra-Wideband (UWB) wireless transceivers.
Based on the IEEE802.15.4z standard, the DW3220 implements enhanced security features.
DW3220 can achieve data rates of up to 6.8 Mbps while delivering precise positioning to within 10 cm for ranging and +/-5 degrees for angular measurement.
The DW3220 transceiver is interoperable with the Apple U1 & U2 chip.
The DW3220 is FiRa™ compliant and supports Two-Way Ranging, Time Difference of Arrival (TDoA) and Phase Difference of Arrival (PDoA) implementations.
Optimized for low-power battery-operated operation, the DW3000 family of products is designed to be used in mobile, consumer, and industrial applications thanks to different small footprint package options and reduced external BOM.
