The PC4 is a compact, plug-in RS-422 cable driver board designed for driving long cables up to 1,000 feet using differential signaling, which enhances noise immunity. It is compatible with various encoders, including the E2, E3, H1, H3, S1, and S2 models. The board features a 5-pin socket for direct connection to the encoder's pins. For output connections, ribbon cables can be used for lengths up to 100 feet, while twisted pair cables are recommended for longer distances. An optional 120 Oc terminating resistor can be added on the receiver side to match the cable's impedance. The PC4 operates within a supply voltage range of 4.5 to 5.5 volts and has a low power consumption of 1 to 2 mA. It is rated for an operating temperature range of -40 to 100 ¬8C and has an electrostatic discharge rating of 2 kV. Cables and connectors are sold separately.
The TTL outputs of some incremental encoders can sink (pull down) less than 4mA and source (pull up) less than 200uA. The PC4 is a small, plug-in RS-422 cable driver board that drives long cables up to 1000 feet using differential signaling to provide improved noise immunity. The PC4 can be used with the E2, E3, H1, H3, S1 and S2 encoders. Each board has a 5-pin socket designed to plug into the 5 pins of the encoder. An on-board 0.1uF bypass capacitor across the power pins on each of these boards compensates for inductance and noise which can be expected at the end of a long cable.
