The LFLS7084-S is an Encoder to Counter Interface Chip designed to facilitate the connection of incremental shaft encoders to standard up/down counters. It accepts quadrature outputs from encoders and provides direct outputs to the Clock and Up/Down inputs of compatible counters, such as the 4516 or 74169. This chip supports x1 or x4 resolution multiplication and is compatible with both TTL and CMOS logic levels. It operates with low current consumption in the micro-amp range and comes in an 8-pin SOIC package. Notably, it does not require external clocks, simplifying integration into various applications.
