The MSP430F5217 is a 16-bit RISC microcontroller in an 80-pin ZQE BGA package measuring 5mm × 5mm, designed for low-power mixed-signal applications. It features 64KB of flash memory, 8KB of RAM, four 16-bit timers, two universal serial communication interfaces supporting UART, SPI, and I2C, a 10-bit ADC, a hardware multiplier, three-channel DMA, and a Real-Time Clock module. The device operates with a primary supply voltage of 1.8V to 3.6V and a separate I/O supply voltage of 1.62V to 1.98V, enabling seamless interfacing with 1.8-V logic devices. Power consumption includes 150µA/MHz in active mode at 8MHz and 2.1µA in standby mode (LPM3) with RTC active. Wakeup from standby occurs in 3.5µs. It supports JTAG and Spy-Bi-Wire programming, operates from -40°C to 85°C, and meets RoHS standards. This device lacks the ADC present in the MSP430F522x series.
