The MCP2515T-E/MLVAO is a stand-alone Controller Area Network (CAN) controller that complies with the CAN specification Version 2.0B, supporting data rates of up to 1 Mb/s. It is capable of handling both standard and extended data frames, with a data field length ranging from 0 to 8 bytes. The device features two receive buffers with prioritized message storage, six 29-bit filters, and two 29-bit masks to effectively manage incoming messages and reduce the load on the host microcontroller. This controller interfaces with microcontrollers via a high-speed Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) operating at 10 MHz, supporting SPI modes 0,0 and 1,1. It includes three transmit buffers with prioritization and abort capabilities, as well as a one-shot mode for message transmission. The MCP2515 also provides a clock output pin with a programmable prescaler, which can serve as a clock source for other devices. Designed for low power consumption, the MCP2515 operates within a voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V, with a typical active current of 5 mA and a standby current of 1 OºA in sleep mode. It is available in a 20-lead TSSOP package and supports industrial temperature ranges from -40¬8C to +85¬8C, as well as extended ranges up to +125¬8C.
