Wave Washers, Wave Spring Washers, or simply Spring Washers, are used in many applications as spacers or cushion springs. Their irregular shape provides 3-point contact that result in greater load bearing capacity and moderate deflection range in low strength fastening. Though they can be produced with any number of waves, they generally feature 3, 4, or 6 waves. The number of waves increases thickness and every additional wave decreases the amount of deflection causing increased radial stress. Uniformity is important as the load rate does not begin until all of the waves are evenly loaded.
