Description
The LEAP-1A® is the airlines' engine of choice for the next-generation single-aisle airliner from Airbus, the A320neo. It offers A320 operators exceptional technical, economic and environmental performance, with a 15% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions versus current engines, a 50% cut in NOx emissions, and compliance with the most stringent noise standards (the ICAO's Chapter 14 regulations). Selected by the European planemaker Airbus in 2010, the LEAP-1A will be certified in 2015, and is scheduled to enter service on the A320neo in 2016. Ground tests started in September 2013, two days ahead of the schedule drawn up with the aircraft manufacturer three years previously. Development tests are continuing per the certification schedule.
