Newport MKS Erbium Doped Optical Fiber, Low Cost Metro EDFA F-EDF-5

Description
The gain spectrum of F-EDF-5 (manufacturer P/N M-15(980/125)) is an ideal simple and low-cost erbium doped fiber that provides consistent and efficient gain in single-stage, few channel-count designs. The fiber suits especially well for Metro EDFA applications. F-EDF-5 is doped to provide a nominal 10-15 dB/m absorption at 980 nm. This relatively high level of doping offers more than twice the levels of pump absorption of many other erbium doped fibers, with a corresponding reduction in gain-length and material cost. A wide pump range and high absorption specification makes it a cost-effective solution with a minor increase in sensitivity to length or variations in absorption. This bare fiber does not include a protective fiber jacket. Standard pricing is per meter. The following volume discount schedule is applied when ordering continuous lengths of optical fiber: 10 - 49 m: 15%, 50 - 99 m: 22%, 100 - 499 m: 25%, and ≥ 500 m: 28%. Fibercore’s MetroGain™ Fibercore’s MetroGain range is designed for high efficiency ‘Metro-style’ Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) configurations, single stage amplifiers, Amplified Spontaneous Emission (ASE) light sources and single channel or few channel EDFAs. All model numbers with "F-M" in them are among the MetroGain family as well as F-EDF and F-EDF-5. F-EDF Series F-EDF erbium doped fibers provide the basic building block to fiber optic amplifiers used in broadband optical networks in the 1550 nm transmission window. These erbium doped fibers deliver gain efficiencies in excess of 3.5 dB/mW when pumped with a 980nm laser diode. F-EDF-2 has a flat gain profile while F-EDF-5 is suitable for metro EDFA applications. Applications C- and L-Band EDFAs Metro EDFAs Broadband Optical Networks CATV Applications ASE Light Sources Fiber Lasers Biomedical Illumination Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
