The BD17.04 Differential Micrometer delivers ultra-fine, sub-micron positioning capabilities and coarse travel up to 4 mm in a single instrument. In most cases, BD Series Differential Micrometers can directly replace BM Series Micrometers and BHC Locking Drives to provide approximately ten times better positioning sensitivity. The BD Differential Micrometer is a standard micrometer with a 0.50 mm high-resolution micrometer built around it. Coarse positioning, provided by the control knob at the front of the micrometer, enables rapid translation with a sensitivity of 1 μm. By using the fine adjustment knob at the back, the position can be further optimized with a sensitivity of 0.1 μm over a limited travel range. The fine adjustment knob is graduated to permit direct reading of position in 1-μm increments. The coarse position can be fixed by a lock nut.
