Stewart Filmscreen Corp.
Stewart Filmscreen introduced Microperforations with a primary goal of allowing audio emitted from speakers placed behind the screen to reach the viewer with a minute effect in audio or visual quality.
Microperf X2 is based on the unique perforation pattern that Stewart developed over a decade ago. While Stewart's Microperf screens have lead the industry for years, the proliferation of digital projectors has created the need for some slight modifications in how we cut the material. To prevent a common artifact called 'moiré, the screen material is rotated, so the perforated grid does not interfere with the projector pixel grid. The primary goal of Microperferations is to allow audio emitted from speakers placed behind the screen to reach the viewer with a minute effect on audio or visual quality. With over 30,000 miniature holes per square foot of projection material, a Microperforated screen captivates audiences with a superb image and smooth flawless sound due to its superior audio and visual performance, the Stewart Microperf material was awarded THX Ultra Certification, their highest rating for home theater products. Microperf X2 performs above & beyond in both visual and sound quality during AB comparisons1 with woven screens and other acoustically treated projection materials available in today's A/V market. The vibrancy of an image shown on a woven screen suffers from cross reflection created by the construction of the screen material itself. Determined to meet only the highest standards within the A/V industry, Stewart's strategically calculated perforation layout avoids compromising image or sound quality in any way. Microperf X2 is the # 1 choice, providing the viewer up to 70% more brightness, higher resolution, superior color saturation, and excellent uniformity compared to all others. Stewart remains the industry leader providing custom Microperf solutions that eliminate any so-called "Microperf Moiré".
