The 8NW900 is a 8" neodymium low frequency driver that combines excellent linearity, great efficiency and high power handling capabilities. The transducer is intended for line array applications and compact 10 to 30 liters enclosures. The speaker is suitable also for horn loaded applications. The 8NW900 has been designed with combination of flat power response and with a wide force to excursion plateau, extremely low inductance and low dynamic power compression. The long excursion capabilities offers good control and possibility to enhance low frequency portion of the audio band while keeping uncoloured and detailed mid frequencies reproduction with extremely low harmonic and modulation distortion. The extremely powerful external neodymium magnet assembly assures high flux concentration, low power compression and excellent heat exchange. The levels of force factor and power handling are, as a consequence, at the upper professional level with best power to weight ratio. The 65 mm (2.5in) split aluminum wire voice coil employs Interleaved Sandwich Voice coil (ISV) technology, made by a high strength fiberglass former used to carry windings on both the outer and inner surfaces, in order to achieve a mass balanced coil. This results in an extremely linear motor assembly which, in conjunction with the advanced design of the magnetic structure, provides a high BL force factor. The voice coil is cooled through airways placed between the chassis back plate and the magnet faceplate, letting heated air is channeled away from the voice coil and the gap. Another technology present into the 8NW900 is the Single Demodulating Ring (SDR), used to reduce intermodulation distortion and linearize impedance curve on mid-high frequency range, with constant energy transfer over the useful frequency range. Eighteen Sound constant attention to continuous improvements drove our R&D to develop very long life test program research in order to study and improve resistance to mechanical fatigue applications under low frequency violent peaks. Specific dedication has been focused into lead wire material and design, reaching a state-of-the-art result. The ability to perform in humid environments is an extra key feature of the 8NW900. This is achieved trough a custom made membrane treatment which renders the cone humidity repellent while minimizing the total moving speaker mass increase.
