In a class of its own As part of the 800 series, the 885ix represents a new class of interactive whiteboard. This system offers an intuitive, multitouch experience that enables true collaboration and brings more magical moments to the classroom. This integrated system features a powerful SMART Board interactive whiteboard and an ultra-short-throw projector, the SMART UX60, which virtually eliminates shadows and glare. The 885ix also includes a modular pen tray that enables students to seamlessly work together, and an extended control panel, which allows you to control the system and manage your classroom technology. And as a widescreen system, the 885ix has 20% more working space than a standard interactive whiteboard. A deeper level of collaborative learning The 885ix gives teachers and students the freedom to truly work together on lessons. Its multitouch capabilities enable two users to use their fingers or a pen simultaneously on the interactive whiteboard surface to write, draw and manipulate content in SMART Notebook collaborative learning software. And the flexibility of the system's multiuser experience means that two users can work together, while completing different actions, such as moving objects or writing in digital ink*. The system doesn't require a separate multiuser mode, so you can begin collaborating quickly. A user can write with a pen, erase with a palm and move objects with a finger. The 885ix features SMART's own DViT (Digital Vision Touch) technology - which uses cameras to distinguish between different actions and respond accordingly - so it recognizes when you switch between using a pen, finger and eraser. Feature availability: The SMART Board 800 series interactive whiteboard supports multiuser writing and common multitouch gestures currently recognized in Microsoft Windows 7 and Mac Snow Leopard operating system. SMART Notebook collaborative learning software will support certain features, such as freestyle interaction, touch gestures and full object awareness, upon the release of updated software (SMART Notebook 10.7), expected by March 2011.
