The OPB804 is a slotted optical switch with a non-contact design, featuring an infrared LED and NPN silicon phototransistor mounted on opposite sides of a 3.94 mm wide slot. It is designed for PCB mounting and uses an opaque plastic body to reduce ambient light interference. The device operates with an LED forward current of up to 50 mA and a forward voltage of 1.25 V at 20 mA. The phototransistor has a collector-emitter breakdown voltage of 30 V, a collector-emitter saturation voltage of 0.40 V, and a collector dark current of 100 nA max. Operable from -40°C to +85°C, with a storage temperature range of -40°C to +100°C, it meets the maximum lead soldering temperature of 260°C for 5 seconds. The device is rated for 75 mW LED power dissipation and 100 mW phototransistor power dissipation, derating linearly above 25°C.
