The TV/HAT-RA is an in-line, self-operating temperature control valve designed to regulate coolant flow by modulating open on rising fluid temperatures, maintaining a constant outlet temperature without external power. It features a stainless steel body, fittings, spring, and ram-type plug, with a compact, low-mass design for fast thermal response. The valve operates in any position and is unaffected by pressure variations, with a maximum operating pressure of 150 PSIG and a temperature limit of 300°F. Available in 3/8" and 1/2" tube sizes, it uses PTFE seat seals and EPDM or Viton O-rings, and includes a thermal actuator with Thermoloid® technology. The switch from closed to open occurs at selectable set-points ranging from 40°F to 210°F, with closing typically 10°F below opening. The valve is intended for cooling water, glycol, or similar media in applications such as thermal relief, compressors, and molding equipment.
As the fluid temperature increases to within the operating range of the TV/HAT-RA, the thermal actuator modulates the valve open. If the fluid temperature is above the acceptable range, the valve will continue to modulate open allowing additional fluid discharge. As the outlet temperature falls, the valve then modulates toward the closed position, reducing flow. This modulating action maintains a relatively constant outlet fluid temperature.
The TV/HAT-RA reverse acting valve may be used to regulate the flow of cooling water, glycol or other cooling media in applications requiring economical removal of heat from equipment or a process. Since the TV/HAT-RA valves open on rising temperatures, they can be used in many thermal relief valve applications.
