Thermal Wire and Cable Corps type TFE Teflon insulated conductors for general wiring offers a wide service temperature range. Standard conductor material is nickel-plated copper. PTFE Teflon retains its properties after service at 260C (500F) to -80C. Type TFE Teflon insulated conductors produce very little smoke when burned are chemically inert to nearly all industrial chemicals and solvents. As a primary insulation PTFE couples superior dielectric properties, heat resistance and durability. Frying pans are typically lined with PTFE.Being a thermoset insulation, it does not melt or shrink back when hit with a soldering gun like PFA or FEP insulations can do.Rated 250C (482F), dry locations only. Only for leads within apparatus or within raceways connected to apparatus, or as open wiring (nickel or nickel-coated copper conductor. Its flexible nature and small diameter profile provides for easy, economical installations. Fully pigmented insulation in bright colors aids in positive identification. Long continuous lengths of wire are not generally available with TFE insulated wire. Consider a PTFE tape for longer continuous length yields. An accepted industry practice allows for about 4-5 lengths minimum per 2500 ft (18-14 AWG). Larger sizes than 12 and the lengths yielded are even shorter. Compared with other high temperature cables that are augmented with a braid, Thermal Wire and Cable Corps type TFE cable conductors for general wiring insulated with PTFE Teflon, slide rather than tear such as braided wire (such as FEPB), yet its' abrasion resistance helps eliminate cut-through and other damage that can occur during installation and use. Thermal Wire and Cable Corps type TFE insulated conductors for general wiring insulated with PTFE Teflon are 20% smaller in diameter than braided cables allowing more circuits per conduit.
