The CD74HCT7046A is a high-speed CMOS logic phase-locked loop (PLL) that integrates a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) and a lock detector. It operates with a center frequency of 18 MHz at a supply voltage of 5V, with a minimum frequency of 12 MHz at 4.5V. The device features two phase comparators: an exclusive-OR and an edge-triggered JK flip-flop, allowing for flexibility in design. It offers excellent VCO frequency linearity and includes a VCO-inhibit control for low standby power consumption. The operating voltage range for the VCO section is 3V to 6V, while the digital section operates between 2V and 6V. The device supports a wide temperature range from -55¬8C to 125¬8C and has a fanout capability of 10 LSTTL loads for standard outputs and 15 LSTTL loads for bus driver outputs. The CD74HCT7046A is suitable for applications such as frequency synthesis, FM modulation and demodulation, tone decoding, and data synchronization. It is available in a 16-pin PDIP package and is compliant with JEDEC standards.
