Rack-mount power strips use only one rack-mount space and allow multiple pieces of equipment to share a single power connection. Multiple power strips can be installed in each rack or cabinet to supply multiple circuits in support of redundant power. Power strips equipped with optional circuit breakers and surge-protection provide additional power protection. Circuit breakers limit the amount of current available to the equipment. Surge protection blocks excessive voltage from equipment. Both features are critical with unconditioned line power.
