The FDIMU combines the functions of the Flight Data Interface Unit (FDIU) used for mandatory data acquisition, the Data Management Unit (DMU) that performs engine/aircraft condition monitoring, and the Recorder (Quick/Digital Access Recorder), resulting in significant cost savings, reduced weight, wiring, and rack space, and above all lower initial equipment cost.
