The Model 517 XHD is a scrap chopper designed for processing large volumes of linear scrap materials. It features a 1/2" plate steel housing, a magnetic starter to prevent unexpected restarts, and air-activated feedworks controlled by a footswitch for operator safety. The infeed opening measures 6 5/8" W x 1 5/8" H, with a standard cut length of 3 1/2" and an infeed speed of 90 FPM. It is driven by a 5 HP electric motor and includes one stationary knife and one rotating knife (with optional up to four). The unit has overall dimensions of 56" L x 34" W x 30" H and weighs 1,492 lbs. It supports multiple electrical options including three-phase voltages, and includes an anti-kickback flap in the infeed funnel. Knives have four usable edges and are rotatable for extended life.
