The 517 Series is a 17-inch (7” high, 17” deep) industrial-strength rackmount/benchtop chassis featuring an 8-slot SCSI active backplane. Eight hot-swappable, front-accessible 3.5” drive shuttles are provided. In addition, single front-accessible 5.25” and single, buried, top-accessible 3.5” drive mounting provisions are provided. The chassis comes with dual redundant, 250 Watt, voltage-selectable, hot-swappable, rear-accessible AC power supplies (DC input is also available). A positive pressure cooling subsystem with two independently removable 53 CFM quiet 12VDC fans, coupled with a removable foam dust filter, is complemented by a power supply exhaust fan that ensures optimal clean airflow through the chassis to remove heat from drive shuttles.
Standard front panel controls/indicators include power ON/OFF, power supply status indicator, and eight peripheral activity LEDs. The 517 is the first in the industry to offer rear I/O knockout panels that eliminate I/O subplates. The knockouts provided are quad 68-pin SCSI. A two-year limited warranty is standard.
