It has a collector-emitter voltage rating of 45 V, a continuous collector current of 500 mA, and a peak collector current of 1 A. Current gain ranges from 250 to 600 for the BC817-40QC-Q variant. The device is qualified to AEC-Q101 and suitable for automotive applications. Power dissipation is up to 480 mW with a 70 μm copper PCB, and junction temperature ranges from -55 °C to 150 °C.
