Newport MKS Optical Fiber Coupler, Single Wavelength, 1 x 8, 1550 nm, FC/APC F-CPL-S18150-FCAPC

Description
The F-CPL-S18150-FCAPC single wavelength optical fiber couplers allow bi-directional coupling and can be used to either split or combine signals. This 1 x 8 coupler provides optimal performance at a center wavelength of 1550 nm in package type D. FC/APC connector ends are standard. Use option code 68 when ordering this coupler with other fiber optic connectors installed. Newport’s wide range of Optical Fiber Coupler products have been developed using fused fiber technology. Rugged Housing and Cabling with Pigtail, FC/UPC or FC/APC Connections Available All the couplers feature a fully ruggedized black plastic housing with 1 m long, 3 mm PVC covered pigtails. All standard models come non-terminated, FC/UPC, or FC/APC. Fused Biconical Taper Construction A fused coupler consists of two, parallel optical fibers that have been twisted, stretched and fused together so that their cores are very close to each other. This forms a coupling region with the length determining the coupling ratio from one fiber to the other. During the manufacturing process, light is launched into an input port and the output power from each output port is carefully monitored. When the desired coupling ratio is achieved, the fully automated manufacturing process is stopped. The resulting coupler is essentially one fiber with two cores that are very near to one another. This process is known as the Fused Biconical Taper (FBT) process. Single Wavelength Fiber Optic Couplers Single wavelength couplers provide optimal performance at the design center wavelengths of 1310 or 1550 nm. These devices are designed for the specified wavelengths and come with 1x4 configurations at both 1310 and 1550 nm as well as a 1x8 configuration at 1550 nm.
