KOSTER BS 1 Bitumen Paste is a solvent-based, non-sagging, weather-resistant, and flexible bitumen compound. It has a softening point of 212¬?F (100¬?C), ensuring material stability. The paste is resistant to diluted acids, alkalis, industrial gases, and salt-water, making it suitable for various aggressive environments. It is asbestos-free and does not contain PCBs. This product is designed for repairing leaks on roofs with bitumen membranes or corrugated sheets, sealing wall connections, and waterproofing both vertical and horizontal surfaces in interior or exterior applications. It can be used above or below grade and is effective for sealing pipe penetrations. The application requires a clean, dry substrate, and it is recommended to use KOSTER Bitumen Primer on absorbent surfaces. KOSTER BS 1 Bitumen Paste is packaged in a 1.32-gallon (5-liter) pail and has a coverage rate of 0.02 gallons per square foot for a 40 mil layer thickness. It should be applied at a thickness of 1/8 to 5/32 inches (3 to 4 mm) using a trowel, with ideal application temperatures between 41¬?F and 77¬?F (5¬?C and 25¬?C). The product can be stored for at least 12 months in original sealed packages and is not sensitive to frost. Safety precautions include using the product in well-ventilated areas due to its flammable nature and potential to cause drowsiness.
