Canoga Perkins' CWDM Multiplexing System is based on the fact that optical multiplexing, a passive process, and wavelength conversion, an active process, are separable processes. The OADM Optical Multiplexer allow you to drop a discrete wavelength from the optical link while allowing the rest of the wavelengths to pass. This creates a virtual point-to-point application from any site along the link back to the central location. Add/Drop configuration of the OADM create virtual Point-to-Point circuits in both directions on the composite link. Drop & Continue configuration creates the virtual point-to-point circuit in one direction only. The OADM Multiplexer is a passive device and transparent to protocol and format of the optical signal. Ethernet, SAN, SONET/SDH, Digital Video, Analog Video and other standards and proprietary applications are naturally supported. The OADM supports ITU CWDM Wavelengths.
