Model SG-20 Specific Gravity Bench is designed for weighing suspended samples in water when determining specific gravity of aggregates, hardened concrete, bituminous mixtures, refractory brick, and similar materials. Bench top is a 31x25in (787x635mm) platform with three 2in (51mm) dia. holes for suspension of samples and thermometer. Lower tank shelf has two locations to fit tanks of 18in or 24in (457 or 610mm) internal depth. Bench is sturdy, painted-steel and requires assembly. A four-outlet, 15 amp, electrical strip (UL Listed, CSA Certified) is attached for single-switch on/off of 115V/60Hz accessories. Outlet strip is not supplied for 230V/50Hz. Overall height is 46in (1,168mm).
Order heavy-duty polyethylene water tanks separately. Both are 24x18in, LxW and suitable for most tests. SGA-120 is 30gal (114L) capacity with 18in depth. SGA-122 is 24in deep with 44gal (170L) capacity preferred for ASTM D 2041, AASHTO T 209 and similar tests, depending on size and shape of vacuum containers. Both molded 1/4in (6.4mm) thick tanks are seamless and translucent for water level visibility and equipped with drain faucet and overflow outlet. Maximum operating temperature is 140°F (60°C).
Accessories include HM-651 Heater and HM-655 Circulator or alternate HM-648 combination Heater/Circulator for temperature control. Use SGA-130 Caster Set for portability. SGA-119 Specific Gravity Cradle, shaped from heavy stainless steel wire, is useful for determinations of various shaped solid specimens. Additional accessories and scales are described elsewhere.
