The buckle is pre-assembled on one end of the strap. There is an installation tool available (WIT-HD-6). They come in 2 different strap materials. Nylon strap material is a high strength, lightweight and relatively inexpensive strap. The acetal strap material has excellent weatherability, superior dimension stability and low-temperature toughness
