TECAMID¬Æ 66 MO grey is a polyamide 66 (PA 66) material enhanced with molybdenum disulfide, which improves its sliding and friction properties. The product has a density of 1.14 g/cm¬= and exhibits good mechanical properties, including a tensile strength at yield of 12,000 psi and a tensile strength at break of 12,200 psi, both measured at 73 ¬8F. The material also demonstrates a flexural strength of 19,000 psi and a modulus of elasticity of 500,000 psi in tensile tests. Thermally, TECAMID¬Æ 66 MO grey has a melting temperature of 491 ¬8F and a long-term service temperature of 230 ¬8F, with an intermittent service temperature of 355 ¬8F. The material's impact strength is measured at 1.1 ft-lbs/in, and it has a Rockwell hardness of 84 on the M scale. Additionally, it has low moisture absorption rates, with 0.40% at 24 hours and 7.5-8.5% at saturation. This product is suitable for applications in industries such as conveyor technology, heavy-duty industry, power engineering, and mining, where improved surface hardness and machinability are required.
The addition of molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) to PA66 nylon produces a material with improved sliding and friction properties. This is achieved as a result of the additive's structure, and its nucleating effect. This effect also increases the rigidity, hardness and dimensional stability of this filled PA 66. Conversely, the impact strength of the modified polyamide 66 is reduced.
