The DA2000 Series barcode Decoder will work with undecoded Laser, CCD or Wand type scanners. The unit is contained in a 4.25"D X 2.6"W X 1.125"H enclosure and requires only a single 5 volt power supply. The decoder has three communications options. RS-232 is used for point to point communications. RS-485 is used in multidrop configurations. Up to 31 decoders can be networked from one computer port. Keyboard Wedge is used for entering barcode data directly into an application running on an IBM PC/AT compatible computer. The unit decodes two commonly used industrial barcodes; interleaved 2 of 5 and Code 39. Both normal and extended Code 39 are supported. A compare function lets each barcode read be compared to a programmed value. All operating parameters of the decoder can be configured using a serial data terminal or PC configured as a terminal. Once configured, this information is stored in nonvolatile EEPROM memory.
APPLICATIONS:
The DA2000 Series Barcode Decoder is designed to be used in a variety of applications. The unit can be used with undecoded "Laser Gun" type scanners and also handheld CCD scanners that are configured to look like laser guns. It can also be used with fixed beam scanners and wand type scanners. RS-232 communications is used for serial, point to point communications. Baud rates of up to 19,200 are available. Up to 31 decoders can be networked using RS-485 communications. See Application note AN011 for more details. The unit uses Custom Sensors' polling protocol. Only a single RS-485 port is required. In Keyboard Wedge mode, the decoder emulates a PC/AT keyboard. All keyboard keys, including ALT, CTRL and function keys can be encoded into an Extended Code 39 Barcode. The compare function can be used to compare the barcode read to a value contained in a nonvolatile buffer. If the two compare, a normal serial transmission is made. If they do not compare, a no-compare output is energized and the characters "NC" are substituted for the barcode characters in the data transmission.
