The WM8940CGEFL/V is a low power, high-quality mono CODEC designed for portable applications such as digital still cameras and camcorders. It supports audio sample rates ranging from 8 kHz to 48 kHz and features a DAC with a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 98 dB and total harmonic distortion (THD) of -84 dB. The ADC offers an SNR of 94 dB and THD of -80 dB. This device integrates a headphone/speaker driver capable of delivering 40 mW output power into 16Ω and 0.4 W into 8Ω, along with an additional mono line output. It includes programmable microphone preamps that support both differential and single-ended inputs, with features such as programmable gain, automatic level control (ALC), and noise gate functionality. The WM8940 operates at supply voltages from 2.5V to 3.6V, with digital supplies capable of operating down to 1.71V for power savings. It is housed in a compact 4x4 mm QFN package, making it suitable for applications where board space is limited. The device also includes an on-chip phase-locked loop (PLL) for clock generation and supports various digital audio interfaces.
