The ACPL-K312 gate drive optocoupler contains a GaAsP LED. The LED isoptically coupled to an integrated circuit with a power output stage.These optocouplers are ideally suited for driving power IGBTs andMOSFETs used in motor control inverter applications. The high operatingvoltage range of the output stage provides the drive voltages requiredby gate controlled devices. The voltage and current supplied by theseoptocouplers make them ideally suited for directly driving IGBTs withratings up to 1200 V/100 A. For IGBTs with higher ratings, theACPL-K312 can be used to drive a discrete power stage which drives theIGBT gate. The ACPL-K312 has an insulation voltage of VIORM = 1140Vpeak (Option 060).
