The PCA9510AD is a hot swappable I¬=C-bus and SMBus buffer designed for use in multipoint backplane systems. It allows for the insertion and removal of I/O cards without disrupting the data and clock buses, preventing bus contention. The device features bidirectional buffering for SDA and SCL lines, which enhances fan-out and maintains signal integrity during live board operations. This buffer supports standard-mode and fast-mode I¬=C-bus as well as SMBus standards, operating within a power supply voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V. It can handle clock frequencies up to 400kHz and includes an active HIGH ENABLE input and an open-drain READY output to indicate connection status. The PCA9510AD also incorporates a precharge mechanism on the SDAIN and SCLIN pins to minimize current draw during insertion. The device is packaged in either an SO8 or TSSOP8 format and offers ESD protection exceeding 2000V HBM. It is suitable for applications such as cPCI, VME, and AdvancedTCA cards that require reliable operation during live insertion and removal.
