This unit is designed for both standard and explosion-proof applications, making it suitable for use in Class 1, Div 1 hazardous areas. The explosion-proof model includes a non-sparking compaction chamber with 1/4" aluminum lined walls, an explosion-proof motor, and controls housed in a NEMA 7/9 enclosure. Weighing 2,500 lbs. (2,800 lbs. for the XP model), the unit is shipped fully assembled for easy installation. It can crush empty steel drums into manageable 4" pancakes and compact dry waste into 55-gallon drums. The design includes automatic push-button controls, a safety interlock to prevent operation when the door is open, and a second compaction head that allows for quick conversion from a drum crusher to an in-drum compactor. The large feed area accommodates 5-gallon pails, and forklift pockets facilitate the removal of compacted drums. The unit can be used both indoors and outdoors, making it versatile for various operational environments.
