Shimadzu's Discovery VP Analytical System enables characterization of microgram to milligram quantities of lead candidates generated from Drug Discovery, Medicinal Chemistry, Natural Product Isolation, or Organic Synthesis efforts. Up to ten columns and four solvent pairs can be configured, making it a true method development tool. The same sample can be run on all column and solvent combinations - up to 40 different sets of conditions if all ten columns and four solvent pairs are configured. Then the Stacked Plot Report is used to determine the best separation conditions for peak isolation and resolution of impurities. Discovery VP is totally automated from injection to detection to report generation. User-friendly software makes operation easy for chromatographers of all experience levels. A simple interface, pictorial view of sample location, and Administrator suggested run conditions let chemists submit samples with only a few mouse clicks. Detection options in the Discovery VP Analytical system are UV, PDA, LCMS-2010EV mass spectrometer, and 'other' detectors such as RID or ELSD. An identical interface to the Discovery VP Preparative System lets the two systems work side by side to first establish analysis conditions, then scale up for purification of synthesis products.
