Nitrocellulose membranes are the perfect choice for western blotting, DNA blotting as well as dot or slot blots. Our nitrocellulose membranes are available in 0.22 μm and 0.45 μm pore size. They are optimally adapted to all protein blotting systems such as electro transfer, semi-dry or simple capillary blotting. The membrane can easily be cut to the desired gel dimension.
As nitrocellulose polymers are inherently hydrophobic, a characteristic which greatly contributes to their very high protein binding capacity, the Sartorius Stedim Biotech membrane has been specifically manufactured with hydrophilic reagents in order to allow the membrane to be wetted in a fast and uniform fashion.
The 0.22 μm and 0.45 μm Nitrocellulose membranes show an optimal structure for blotting applications. The small pore sizes allow for a high protein / DNA binding capacity onto the sponge like 3 dimensional structures. Up to 200 μg of IgG can be adsorbed in one cm2 of our Nitrocellulose membrane. At the same time, the high pore ratio allows for a fast flow across the membrane. After protein transfer, the nitrocellulose membrane can be blocked and rinsed according to usual protocols followed by the required detection method.
