PI (Physik Instrumente) L.P. High-Load Linear Actuator with DC Motor M-238

High-load linear actuator with a DC gear motor and ActiveDrive, designed for precision positioning with up to 400 N feed force and a 50 mm travel range. The unit achieves a maximum velocity of 30 mm/s and uses a ball screw with a 2 mm pitch. It includes noncontact Hall effect limit switches and a direction-sensing reference switch. The actuator is constructed from anodized aluminum and chrome steel, with an overall mass of 2400 g and operates from -10 to 50 °C. It uses a D-sub 15 connector and is compatible with C-885 or C-884 controllers. The M-238 series offers variants with either an incremental rotary encoder (4000 counts/rev) or an incremental linear encoder (100 nm resolution), but both share identical mechanical and drive specifications. Minimum incremental motion is 0.3 µm typ. for the linear encoder variant, with unidirectional repeatability of ±0.3 µm and backlash of 1 µm.
