The CMI233 is a handheld coating and plating thickness gauge designed for accurate and efficient inspection of coating thickness. It utilizes advanced magnetic induction and eddy current technology, allowing for non-destructive measurements on various substrates. The device supports both automatic and continuous measurement modes and features a unique scanning option that compensates for uneven or textured surfaces, enhancing measurement repeatability and reproducibility.
With a memory capacity of over 12,000 readings, the CMI233 is suitable for high-usage applications. It can accommodate one eddy current and two magnetic probes, providing versatility for different measurement needs. The gauge operates on a 9V battery and is designed to withstand harsh environments, making it a reliable choice for field use.
The measurement range for magnetic coatings is from 0.1 to 120 mils (0-3.01 mm) and for eddy current coatings from 0.1 to 60 mils (0-1.52 mm), with an accuracy of +/- (1% + 0.1 µm) relative to reference standards. The device conforms to various industry standards, ensuring compliance for quality control processes.
The CMI233 package enables control of plating and paint & powder coating processes using advanced magnetic induction and eddy-current technology. It provides non-destructive coating thickness measurement for non-magnetic coatings over magnetic (ferrous) substrates and non-conductive coatings over conductive substrates (primarily Al, Cu as close to 100% IACS conductivity is required). The system was specially designed to handle the needs of platers, coaters, and quality professionals.
Three versions of the CMI233 are available:
