Newport MKS Microscope Objective Stage, Nanofocusing, 140 µm, Open-loop NPO140

Description
The NPO140 Objective Nano-Focusing Objective Stage is a high-speed, piezoelectric-driven device that provides fast focusing and scanning over a 140 μm travel range. It is compatible with most microscopes and objective lenses. Typical applications include surface profilometry, high-resolution imaging, auto-focusing, scanning interferometry, and confocal microscopy. NPO stages feature highly reliable, multi-layer, low-voltage, piezoelectric transducer (PZT) stacks, which are optimized for high-duty cycle operations. Image shifts and tilt are minimized by an FEA-modeled and precision EDM-cut parallelogram, solid-state flexure that ensures perfectly straight motion. The sophisticated guide also provides the highest possible stiffness for superior focus stability, higher frequency auto-focusing, shorter settling times and faster scans. NPO stages are maintenance-free and are not subject to wear. With this open-loop version, the resolution is only limited by the noise of the control electronics, but repeatability and stability are compromised due to the hysteresis and creep of the piezoelectric ceramic material. The NPO NanoFocusing stages mount between the turret and the microscope objective and add only 11.5 mm to the optical path length. All models can be used for standard and inverted microscopes. The standard thread size is W0.8 x 1/36 inch and is compatible with all Newport objective lenses. Use with the NPC3 Nanopositioning Amplifier.

Datasheet Summary
Powered by GS/AI

The NPO140 is a piezoelectric-driven nano-focusing objective stage with a 140 µm open-loop travel range, designed for high-speed focusing and scanning in applications such as auto-focusing and confocal microscopy. It mounts between the microscope turret and objective, adding 11.5 mm to the optical path, and features a W0.8×1/36″ thread compatible with Newport lenses. The stage uses a multi-layer piezoelectric transducer stack and a precision parallelogram flexure to ensure straight motion, high stiffness, and minimal tilt, with a resonant frequency of 370 Hz unloaded and a maximum lens weight capacity of 500 g. It is maintenance-free, has a weight of 150 g, and is available in an open-loop configuration with a typical resolution of 0.3 nm limited by control electronics noise.
