The 05SR20 Precision Right-Angle Prism is precision polished to tight tolerances for more demanding applications. This uncoated fused silica prism is 0.5 x 0.5 inch (12.7 x 12.7 mm) and 0.5 inch (12.7 mm) thick. It has a λ/10 surface flatness and a 10-5 surface quality. For UV, infrared, or thermally sensitive applications fused silica prisms are advised. Our fused silica prisms are manufactured to exacting specifications and are useful from 185 nm–2.1 μm. By means of total internal reflection (TIR), a right-angle prism may be used as a 90° reflector or as a 180° retroreflector. Except for reflection losses from the entry and exit faces, TIR exhibits 100% reflectivity over a very large wavelength range.
