SILTEX™ 18-UH is a woven amorphous silica fabric designed for high-temperature thermal protection against welding splatter, sparks, and metal grinding. It is constructed as an 8-harness satin weave with an acrylic coating, measuring 36 inches wide with a nominal weight of 18 oz/yd² and a thickness of 0.031 inches. The material contains 95% amorphous silica and operates continuously at up to 1800°F (982°C). Tensile strength is 319 lb/in warp and 217 lb/in fill. Rolls are packaged at 50 linear yards per roll.
Made with continuous filament, 96% amorphous silica fibers, SILTEX® Woven Silica Fabric is a chemical resistant material that also has high temperature and abrasion resistance.
Available in a variety of weights ranging from 18 oz/sy to 70 oz/sy, SILTEX® Woven Silica Fabrics are widely used as welding blankets and welding curtains for the safety of personnel and equipment. Our 18-ounce silica fabric and our 36-ounce silica fabric are ideal for use in hot works operations.
