The SABMBOVP227 is a dual-channel precision over-voltage protection PCB populated with an ALD910027SALI SAB MOSFET IC, designed for balancing series-connected supercapacitors. It features two matched clamp circuits with a threshold voltage of 2.70V, capable of limiting each supercapacitor to approximately 2.73V maximum voltage under typical operation, with output current increasing sharply from under 100nA below threshold to 100mA above it. The board measures 0.6 in by 1.6 in with mounting holes, operates over -40°C to +85°C, and is RoHS compliant. It supports cascade connection for higher voltage stacks and includes optional footprints for external Schottky rectifiers to manage transient reverse currents.
ALD offers a line of Supercapacitor Auto Balancing Integrated Circuits (IC) as well as SAB and SABOVP (Over-Voltage Protection) Printed Circuit Boards (PCB). The SABOVP PCBs provide voltage balancing of series-connected supercapacitors through superior over-voltage clamping circuitry. These products, when used in appropriately designed applications, dissipate near-zero leakage currents, practically eliminating extra power dissipation. Supercapacitors connected in series stacks can be balanced with various combinations of multiple cascaded SABMB or SABMBOVP packages.
