San Jose Delta Associates, Inc. Datasheets for Aluminum Oxide and Alumina Ceramics
Aluminum oxide and alumina ceramics have excellent wear characteristics, chemical resistance, compressive strength, high-temperature properties, and dielectric strength. They are used widely because of their versatility and low cost. Their main drawback is its relatively poor thermal-shock resistance due to higher coefficients of thermal expansion and lower thermal conductivity (compared to other pure ceramic materials).

| Aluminum Nitride - AlN, is most often the material of choice due to its relatively excellent thermal conductivity and non-toxic nature. Because San Jose Delta has a segregated beryllium oxide... | |
| San Jose Delta maintains an in-house inventory of most grades of alumina ceramics as BARS-RODS-TUBES and SHEETS. The availability of fired “grinding stock” ceramic makes the production of small quantity... | |
| Sapphire is diamond ground using the same general processes as any dense alumina oxide material. While it tends to chip easier than alumina, simple grinding procedure and technic can accommodate... | |
| While the same design features common to alumina ceramics; blind holes, threads etc. are easily produced in Zirconia the grinding time required is about fifty percent more. The post-grinding surface... |
