3M,Ñ¢ Scotch-Grip,Ñ¢ Fire Resistant Rubber Based Adhesive EC-4419 is a synthetic, rubber-based adhesive designed for applications requiring fire resistance. It is particularly suitable for bonding gaskets in aircraft interiors and attaching de-icing boots. The adhesive features a quick drying time and can be applied using a brush or flow gun, allowing for controlled flow and even spreadability. The product has a solids content of 39 ¬± 3% and a viscosity range of 10,000 to 18,000 cps at 80¬8F. It exhibits a 180¬8 peel strength of 9-12 piw when tested with nylon webbing to aluminum substrates. The adhesive passes fire resistance tests, including a maximum extinguish time of 5 seconds and a burn length of 5 inches under a 60-second vertical burn test. For optimal performance, surfaces must be clean and dry prior to application. The adhesive should be stored at temperatures between 60-80¬8F to maintain its shelf life of six months when unopened. Cleanup can be performed using toluene, and care should be taken to follow safety precautions when handling solvents.
