Zygo Corporation Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) Windows

Description
Silicon windows have good transmission in the range from 1.2 to 7.0 µm, with little or no distortion of the transmitted signal. Silicon has an advantage over other IR materials due to its low density (about half that of Zinc Selenide or Germanium), making it ideal for optical systems where weight is a significant factor. Silicon windows are also more robust and less brittle than Germanium windows, and have high thermal conductivity. Applications ZYGO has a long tradition of manufacturing custom-made optical windows, using silicon and other materials, for a wide variety of applications, including, but not limited to: Amplifier Slabs, discs and rods Debris Shields Laser fusion optics Reference surfaces Intelligence, surveillance & reconnaissance (ISR) Wavelengths ZYGO has developed a wide range of manufacturing processes to accommodate optical windows operating in the infrared (IR), visible, and ultra-violet (UV) parts of the spectrum. Similarly, ZYGO has experience with multi-spectral applications, combining IR and visible. Optical windows can be provided with or without thin film coatings Infrared (IR) windows Ultra-violet (UV) windows Visible windows Sizes ZYGO can process these types of windows for components ranging in size from a few millimeters to greater than 1 meter. Materials In addition to Silicon windows, ZYGO has the capability to process a wide range of materials to fabricate optical windows from other materials. Other window products include, but are not limited to: Cleartran windows (water-clear Zinc Sulfide - ZnS) Germanium windows Glass windows (fused silica, BK7, etc.) Sapphire windows (various crystal orientations) Zinc selenide windows (ZnSe)
