AKG Acoustics, U.S.
Probe-style Instrument Microphone
The C 451B is a re-creation of the legendary classic AKG "pencil" condenser instrument microphone with identical acoustics as the legendary CK1 capsule for studio or live sound applications. Its exceptionally flat, slightly up-tilted response captures transients beautifully and accurately. This small diaphragm mic is widely used for drum overhead micing, snare drums, hi-hats, cymbals, other percussion and also for acoustic guitars. The C451B's performance has been enhanced with vastly-improved electronics including transformerless output circuitry for wider dynamic range and much lower noise. Features include switch-selectable 10 and 20-dB preattenuation pads and switchable low-cut filters at 75 or 150 Hz. The microphone comes in rugged foam-lined carrying case and includes a W 90 windscreen, SA 41 stand adapter and an individually-run printout of the microphone's frequency response. The C 451B is also available in factory-matched stereo pairs as the C 451B/ST with the same accessories plus an H 50 stereo bar in a metal-framed carrying case. The C 451B is designed and built in Vienna, Austria and is backed by a three-year warranty from AKG.
