OXO Wraps special formulation helps the stretch wrap to degrade in 12-24 months through oxidative degradation (reaction with oxygen, UV light, and mechanical stress) or biodegradation (reaction with oxygen, moisture, and microorganisms). Special additives to the stretch wrap cause the plastic to degrade at a control rate. OXO Wrap has similar characteristics and performance as standard stretch wrap. Shelf life before use is controlled by the amount of additive put in the stretch wrap. OXO Wrap is 100% recyclable. **Please note--OXOBioWrap meets ASTM Standard D6954-04 (Standard Guide for Exposing and Testing Plastics that Degrade in the Environment by a Combination of Oxidation and Biodegradation). It does not meet ASTM Standard 6400-04 for Compostable Plastics which is required by the state of California for a product to be labeled biodegradable.
