The OPB818 is a slotted optical switch with an infrared emitting diode and an NPN silicon phototransistor in a black plastic housing, designed for non-contact object sensing in automation and security applications. It has a 5.08 mm wide slot and 0.84 mm diameter apertures on both emitter and sensor sides. The component mounts directly to a PCB or dual-in-line socket with 10.16 mm lead spacing. The infrared LED has a maximum forward current of 50 mA and forward voltage of 1.7 V at 20 mA. The phototransistor supports a maximum collector-emitter voltage of 30 V and collector current of 30 mA, with a saturation voltage of 0.4 V at 50 µA collector current. Operating and storage temperature ranges from -40°C to +85°C. Lead soldering temperature is 260°C for 5 seconds. The part is designed for through-hole mounting with 5.08 mm square leads, 10.80 mm in length.
